Here
follows the story of my Golden Sunshine. When I was between 6 and 12 weeks
pregnant with Giselle, I received hormone treatment during this period, in
order to keep the pregnancy. Throughout the pregnancy I had contractions
and I had pre-eclampsia. At week 32 I was hospitalized and 3 days later
Giselle was born via a cesarean-section on 6 May 2000 at 12:00. She weighed
3.1 kg’s and measured 51 cm.
She had the following
characteristics of BWS : macroglossia, hemihypertrophy, abdominal wall
defects, diastacis recti, umbilical hernia and other hernias as well,
advanced bone structure, somatic asymmetry, muscular hypertrophy, prominent
occiput and macroc
She was hospitalized for quite some
time (weeks). She had difficulty to suck
A doctor told us, Giselle would grow into her tongue, but I knew it would not be the case and at 18 months she had a “V”-cut glossectomy. At 24 months she had another glossectomy, which the doctor took off, excess tissue from the sides of her tongue.
