Teething Tips
(please see disclaimer at the bottom of this page)

Question:

My grandson is now 41/2 months old and possibly teething.  During
teething have any of you noticed that his/her tongue tends to stay out
of their mouth more than usual and is constantly playing with the
tongue?  Another thing I have noticed is that he gets very upset when
trying to chew on his toys.  I don't know if his tongue is in the way
and he just can't get a good grip on things or if the tongue itself
 may be bothering him.

Tip #1
My daughter went through the same things during teething but surprisingly she did rather well with the teeth being under the tongue. She really seemed to know what she needed by just chewing on things. I found that a wet rag really seemed to help.

Tip #2
I agree with the above tip. My daughter loves to chew on anything made of cloth. Especially when she's going through another teething spurt. It must feel good on their gums. There are special teething cloths (I think from Safety First) which are like regular wash cloths but have little rubber corners. They are supposed to be great.
